Havana born José Francisco Barroso is an inspired passionate dancer, choreographer and teacher. His premier video "Dances of the Orishas presenst a ground breaking opportunity to learn traditional AfroCuban  folkloric dances.  Barroso  and his able assistants covers all aspects of  the dances of the  Orishas(Yoruba deities) from beginner basics, such as stepping in rhythm with clave, to the more advanced movements and characterizations demonstrated in his explosive soloing. Live detailed instruction and demonstration of the three types of Rumba is also included.

This production also features  a dazzling array of musicians including Bay Area favorites  Ramon “Sandy” Perez, principal percussionist of group Afro-Cuba de Matanzas and Jose Luis Gomez, singer with Fito Reinoso y su Armonia;; Ysidro Valor Perez of Havana’s Clave y Guaguanco; dancer Yismari Ramos of Ballet de la televicion Cubana;  and many others.

The video lasts 112 minutes and covers the dances of Elegua, Ogun, Osun, Yemoja, Sango, Oya, Yambu, Guaguanco and Columbia
